There were 342 exhibitors from 19 countries, which is nearly one-fourth more companies than at analytica China 2006. The analytica China Conference and the technical conferences and symposia that accompany the exhibition featured prominent speakers from around the world.
Shanghai/Munich, September 25, 2008: During the past week, this year's analytica China verified its significance as a leading platform for analysis, laboratory technology, diagnostics and biotechnology in China and Asia. analytica China continued its success story in one of the industry's most important growth markets: the 342 exhibitors at this year's fair occupied more than 17,000 square meters of exhibition space, a nearly 50-percent increase over 2006. There were a total of 13,146 visitors in three days, among which 9091 registered for analytica China and the rest 4055 for IFAT China which is the collocation trade fair for environmental protection. The visitor amount is the largest number since the fair was founded in 2002. Among Chinese and Asian companies, demand for the products and solutions of European and North American companies with exhibits at this year's fair also continues to increase.
As in the past, several of the industry's leading international manufacturers were represented at the 2008 fair. They included Agilent, Analytik Jena, Büchi, Eppendorf, Merck, PerkinElmer, Shimadzu and Thermo Fisher. German companies, which is the largest international joint exhibit, consists of 52 companies. Other joint exhibits are from Spain and Great Britain. The share of foreign companies among this year's exhibitors was 44 percent.
"We are very satisfied with the outstanding results of analytica China 2008. The fact that analytica China was held at the same time as IFAT China, which created added value for exhibitors and visitors at both events, certainly contributed to its success," explains Klaus Dittrich, Managing Director of Munich International Trade Fairs.
Extremely satisfied exhibitors
The exhibitors were highly satisfied with the outcome of the fair.
As one of those who participated analytica China for the first time, JASCO was absolutely satisfied with the show. “We have much more visitors than we were expected coming from various sources, so this is the perfect platform for us to promote our products,” said Mr. Kazuhisa Takada, office manager, Tokyo Service Centre, Sales Division of JASCO Corporation.
The same comment came from TESCAN who is also the new exhibitor this year. Mr.
Jaroslav Klima, CEO told us:” our booth was well visited not only by Chinese potential customers but also agencies from the neighboring countries like Singapore, Philippines and Thailand.”
Meanwhile, more returned exhibitors expressed their positive feedback for the show. It’s the third that for PerkinElmer to present at analytica China. Mr. Daniel R. Marshak, President of Greater China thinks that analytica China is one of the largest trade show in analysis, laboratory technology in China and is the best display of instrument and technology. The number of international participants is very high and the local manufacturers are well represented as well.
Mr. Huachao Chen, Import & Export director of Shanghai Spectrum Instruments Co., Ltd. thinks that analytica China 2008 grows dramatically. “Many exhibitors extended their booths and quite a few of new exhibitors joined in. The show was well organized and we will definitely exhibit in the next edition.”
Owing to the booming biotechnology industry in China, more companies of this category attend analytica China this year. BiotTek, one of the biotechnology industry players, received unexpectedly more visitors during three days. According to Mr. Steven Fisher, regional sales manager of BioTek Instruments, Inc, they had a mixture of visitors with end-users who will purchase their instruments and have seen quite a few of business to business type customers as well.
First-rate program of related events
A series of high-calibre conference programs were held alongside with the exhibition as usual, over 1200 enthusiastic visitors attended the following events.
Experts at the analytica China Conference discussed the latest developments and challenges in the fields of analytical quality assurance, lab strategy and organisation, proteomics/metabonomics, environmental analysis, mass spectrometry, electroanalysis/sensors and analysis of food and TCM (traditional Chinese medicines). 56 highly qualified and well-known speakers – 33 from China and 23 from the rest of the world – held lectures on the above topics. As a result, analytica China, which was held under the direction of the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS), was more international than ever.
The lectures at the Sino-German Symposium on Chromatography also dealt with the latest trends in research and development. A total of 21 prominent German and Chinese scientists explained recent developments in the fields of chromatography, separation and sample analysis.
A conference titled Proteomics: From Basic to Application on September 23, 2008, the objective of which was to promote proteome research in China, was also held in conjunction with analytica China for the first time ever. The conference was organized by the Beijing Proteome Research Center under the chairmanship of its Technical Director, Professor Qian Xiaohong.
On the afternoon of September 24th, the Royal Chemical Society held the Chemistry World China Lecture, which was a forum for presentations and discussions on partnerships between universities and the industrial sector. British and Chinese speakers made presentations about recent case studies in which they collaborated. This year's conference enjoyed the support of the Shanghai Society for Chemistry & Chemical Industry.
Not only the visitors but also the exhibitors benefited from these technical seminars. Dr. Juergen Blumm, managing director, sales, applications and marketing of NETZSCH was invited to give a lecture and he thinks the conferences are a perfect plus for display and he can further illustrate their services and solutions through lectures. Dr. Cao Lei, manager of marketing department of analytical instruments department of SHIMADZU affirms that all the conferences are very professional with lots of experts from home and abroad and a lot of scientists from colleges/universities and institutes have come to attend.
An alliance with worldwide partners and the strong international network
The positive results of this year's analytica China underscores once again its position as the leading trade fair for analysis, laboratory technology, diagnostics and biotechnology. Among other things, its success can be traced to our many strong partners in the Chinese region, such as the collaboration with the China Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA) who is also the organizer of Beijing Conference and Exhibition of Instrumental Analysis (BCEIA), and the strong support from the Chinese Chemical Society (CSS), the China Association for Instrumental Analysis and the China National Scientific Instruments & Material Import-Export Corporation (CSIMC). analytica China is also supported by international associations, such as Japan Analytical Instruments Manufacturers Association (JAIMA), International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), German Industry Association for Optical, Medical and Mechatronical Technologies (SPECTARIS), GAMBICA from Great Britain and Grufac from Spain. In addition, the Technical Advisory Board consists of prominent representatives of the Chinese research and industrial sectors.
The international network of Mess München International (MMI) contributed for the success as well. In addition to analytica in Munich which is a traditional exhibition since 1968, analytica China, analytica Anacon India starting from 2003 and the newest fair in the network, analytica Vietnam in 2009, give Asia and the entire world the best platform for the analysis, laboratory technology and biotechnology industry.
The next analytica China will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong in the autumn of 2010.
