Shanghai, 18th September 2006. AnalyticaChina 2006, which is being held in Shanghai for the third time from September 19 – 21, 2006, has set new records with regard to exhibitors and exhibition space. 270 exhibitors from 18 countries are expected to participate in the fair, and half of them are from countries other than China. The AnalyticaChina Conference will also be more international than ever: Nearly half of the approximately 40 scientific presentations will be made by researchers from abroad.

The third AnalyticaChina will set some new records when it opens its gates at the Shanghai New In¬ternational Expo Centre in Pudong, Shanghai, on September 19, 2006: The amount of exhibition space is up by more than 64% compared to the 2004 fair, increasing to a total of 11,500 square meters, and the number of exhibitors has increased by 32% to 270 (AnalyticaChina 2004: 204 exhibitors).

Thanks to these figures, AnalyticaChina, which is held every two years, has established itself as the No. 1 exhibition platform for analysis, biotechnology, diagnostics and laboratory technology in China – together with BCEIA in Beijing. Because the China Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA) holds BCEIA in the years between AnalyticaChina, China has an exhibition platform that meets the needs of decision-makers and users in Chinese laboratories on the one hand and takes the industry's dynamic innovation cycles into account on the other – and that on an annual basis.

The companies exhibiting at AnalyticaChina 2006 come from 18 nations, and international companies account for approximately half of all exhibitors. With just less than 40 companies, Germany has the largest contingent of exhibitors, followed by national pavilions from Spain, Great Britain and Wallonia, Belgium. As in the past, the companies exhibiting in Shanghai include some of the industry's key international players such as Analytik Jena, Büchi, Eppendorf, Fisher Scientific, Merck, Mettler Toledo, Miele, Millipore, Perkin Elmer, Retsch, Shimadzu, Thermo and Waters.

Range of exhibits meets demand in Chinese laboratories
The range of exhibits at AnalyticaChina covers the needs of Chinese laboratories in the industrial and scientific sectors. The most rapidly growing branches of industry in the "Middle Kingdom" include environmental protection, health care, the pharmaceuticals industry, the consumer-goods industry and electronics manufacturing. These are also the sectors that drive growth for analysis, laboratory-technology, diagnostic and biotechnology solutions.

The new developments on exhibit at AnalyticaChina reflect this development: For example, one device that will be on display allows precise, high-speed analysis of raw materials, chemical products, tobacco and food, making it possible to check their quality at any location, i.e. in mobile use. Another highlight is sample preparation and analysis to test for compliance with the EU's new WEEE and RoHS guidelines.

The latest developments in laboratory technology revolve around automation in laboratories using high-speed solutions such as high-throughput screening, automated test systems for pharmaceuticals production and laboratory equipment that ensures the safe handling of biologically contaminated or infectious samples. For the first time ever, experts from the Chongming District Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision will be on hand at AnalyticaChina to inform visitors about a standardized quality-assurance system for food.

Researchers from around the world at scientific conference
Once again, AnalyticaChina 2006 will be rounded out by a first-rate program of related events: The AnalyticaChina Conference, which features nearly 40 lectures from scientists from around the world, is being held in conjunction with the fair. Besides representatives of renowned Chinese universities and research institutes, researchers from Belgium, Germany, Italy, Canada, Austria and the United States are expected. They will contribute approximately half of the lectures, which are divided up into five panels:

• Analytical Quality Assurance
• Laboratory Strategies and New Analytical Techniques
• Environmental Analysis
• Proteomics and Metabonomics
• Analysis of Food, Foodstuffs and Herbs

While the scientifically oriented AnalyticaChina Conference actively promotes the dialog between the industrial and scientific sectors, the AnalyticaChina Exhibitor Forum and the brand new AnalyticaChina 2006 RoHS Conference revolve around the exchange of information between manufacturers' specialists and Chinese users and decision-makers in the laboratories. The presentations and discussions at these events focus on practical solutions that are designed to increase efficiency in the laboratory, automate analysis processes or reduce costs.

AnalyticaChina is a sister exhibition of Analytica in Munich, which has showcased the analysis, laboratory-technology, diagnostic and biotechnology industry since 1968 and is celebrating its 20th jubilee this year. AnalyticaChina in Shanghai was founded in 2002 and Analytica-Anacon in India in 2003 to address the two largest growth markets for analysis solutions and laboratory technology in Asia by giving them their own exhibition platforms. To ensure that the needs of the Chinese market are taken into account to the greatest extent possible, Munich International Trade Fairs works together closely with a network of strong Chinese partners. They include the China Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA), the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS) and the China National Scientific Instruments & Materials Import-Export Corporation (CSIMC). A technical advisory board comprising representatives of Chinese universities and manufacturers as well as globally active corporations also advises Munich International Trade Fairs on the organization of AnalyticaChina.
