Shanghai/Munich, 29. September 2006. This year’s AnalyticaChina confirmed its significance as a meeting place and business platform for analysis, biotechnology, diagnostics and laboratory technology in China as well as in Asia. Following a successful premiere in Shanghai in 2002, Messe München International GmbH has reported new records for the third edition of AnalyticaChina, which was held from from 19 – 21 September 2006: Compared to the last time that the event was held (2004) the amount of exhibition floor space in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) rose by more than 64 percent to 11,500 square meters. The number of exhibitors grew by 32 percent to 270 companies. With 8,557 attendees, the three-day event posted a 30-percent increase over AnalyticaChina 2004. These positive numbers demonstrate that companies are gaining interest in the Chinese market and underscore the ever increasing significance of trade shows as platforms for business and networking. Simultaneously, this growth reflects the strong increase in demand within the Chinese and Asian markets for the products and solutions that are exhibited at AnalyticaChina.

As in the past, the companies exhibiting in Shanghai included some of the industry's key international players – such as AnalytikJena, Büchi, Eppendorf, Fisher Scientific, Merck, Mettler Toledo, Miele, Millipore, Perkin Elmer, Retsch, Shimadzu, Thermo, and Waters. With 39 companies, Germany has the largest contingent of exhibitors, followed by the national pavilions from Spain, Great Britain, and the Wallonia region of Belgium. Overall, companies from outside China accounted for 46 percent of the exhibitors.

Positive Response from Exhibitors
Integrated Technologies Limited is a new exhibitor at Analytica China. “We started to explore the Chinese market early this year. China is a big market with great potential. AnalyticaChina 2006 is the first exhibition in China that we are participating in. We have to say it’s a very successful show, and we will definitely participate in every AnalyticaChina in the future,” said Mr. Tom Cole, General Manager of Integrated Technologies.

Mr. Zhao Tai, General Manager for China at AnalytikJena said: “We can see that the organizer put in a great effort in terms of the visitor promotion and organization. We are happy to see that most of the visitors are the end users, instead of agencies. The conferences are professional, well organized, and very well attended.” “Visitor promotion is better than it was last year. We met lots of high quality end users, even from other provinces of China, during the show,” said Mr. Zheng Guang Xiu, marketing manager at Merck.

Ms Xue Ping from the Marcom Department at PE stated: “Thanks to the organizer for providing us with an outstanding opportunity for face-to-face communication with our clients. It’s also a good platform for building our corporate image on the market. The show is very well organized. We are confident that the trade shows organized by Munich Trade Fairs will become more and more successful in the future.”

Shanghai Techcorp Instrument Ltd is a leading Chinese instrument manufacturer, and it had the largest booth at AnalyticaChina 2006. “This is an outstanding trade show with high quality visitors and on-site services. I believe that this show will become more and more successful, and we will certainly support AnalyticaChina in the future,” said Mr. Chen Cong Shen, Deputy General Manager.

Excellent Accompanying Events
Exhibitors and visitors appreciated the exhibition itself as well as the program of related events. This year has seen the successful opening of the AnalyticaChina Conference’s third session, and its speakers include internationally-renowned scientists, such as Prof. Kettrup, Prof. Zhang Yukui, Prof. Jiang Guibin and others. “This year’s AnalyticaChina Conference stresses the needs of engineers and scientists in different applications (such as Quality Control, Food Safety, Environment Protection, etc.), and the speakers represent the whole spectrum of the analytics and bio-analytics industries. Thus, this event has taken a firm step on its way towards becoming a high-level international scientific conference,” said Prof. Qiu from the China Chemistry Society, which is also one of the conference’s co-organizers.

A special conference for addressing analytical solutions for RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) in the field of electronic production was held on the second day of the show. The speakers came from leading agencies and instrument manufacturers, such as SGS, AnalytikJena, Shimadzu, Thermo and others.

Alliance with Strong Partners
The success of the third edition of AnalyticaChina has confirmed its role as the leading trade fair for analysis, biotechnology, diagnostics and laboratory technology in China. In 2004, close cooperation began between AnalyticaChina and another leading analysis trade show, the “Beijing Conference and Exhibition of Instrumental Analysis” (BCEIA), which takes place every two years in an alternating pattern with AnalyticaChina. The goal behind this cooperation is to establish an annual event platform for the analytics and laboratory industries for the Chinese and Asian market.

Co-location with IFAT China in September 2008
The next edition of AnalyticaChina will take place from 23-25 September 2008 at the same venue (SNIEC), together with IFAT China, which is an international trade fair for environmental protection. The organizer firmly believes that this cooperation with IFAT will draw more buyers from the fields of environment protection to AnalyticaChina.
