analytica China 2008 to be held at same time as IFAT China

The next trade fair for laboratory solutions in China is being held in 2008. analytica China will open its gates for the fourth time from September 23 – 25, 2008. All the international key players in the analysis, laboratory technology and biotechnology sector will be at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. For the first time ever, IFAT China is being held at the same time as analytica China, increasing the fair's appeal for visitors and exhibitors alike.

Beijing/Munich, October 19, 2007: Together with the BCEIA in Beijing, analytica China addresses the rapidly growing Chinese market for laboratory technology on an annual basis. When the upcoming analytica China opens its gates at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) from September 23 – 25, 2008, there will be several changes:

• More space: analytica China is increasing its exhibition space from one to one and a half halls.

• At the same time as IFAT China: For the first time ever, analytica China is being held together with IFAT China. analytica China will share a hall with IFAT China, the International Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Refuse and Recycling. Holding these two events together creates a comprehensive range of solutions and systems for Chinese users and decision-makers in the water and refuse sectors.

• analytica China Conference – more international and more biotech topics: analytica China 2008 is expanding its first-rate program of related events. Like last year, a number of internationally renowned scientists are expected to speak at the analytica China Conference. The lectures they hold will cover all aspects of the analysis sector and demonstrate the latest developments and potential applications in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medicine, nutrition and the environment. The analytica China Conference, which is being organized by the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS), will focus more on biotechnology and bioanalysis topics, taking into account the growing significance of biotechnology and the life sciences in China (http://www.ccs.ac.cn).

• Sino-German scientific summit: For the first time ever, the Sino-German Symposium is being held in conjunction with analytica China in 2008. Held in Germany and China on an alternating basis, the annual symposium is making a stop at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in Shanghai during analytica China 2008. This first-rate event will give prominent German and Chinese scientists a chance to speak about the latest developments related to the field of chromatography in science and research (http://www.sinogermanscience.org.cn/cn/12.htm).

"The combination of analytica China and IFAT China creates a great deal of added value for the exhibitors and visitors at both events. The exhibits at analytica China include the environmental-analysis equipment and solutions that are used in the water and recycling systems on display at IFAT China," explains Kurt Schraudy, Head of the Business Unit for New Technologies at Munich International Trade Fairs and Managing Director of IMAG. The industry's international key accounts such as Thermo Electron, Perkin Elmer, Analytik Jena, Eppendorf, Nietzsch, Merck, Waters, Fisher Scientific, Millipore, Mettler Toledo and Beckman Coulter are expected to be in Shanghai for analytica China 2008.

An alliance with strong partners
The success of the last analytica China underscores its position as the leading exhibition for analysis, biotechnology, diagnostics and laboratory technology in China. The year 2004 ushered in an era of close cooperation between analytica China and China's other leading analysis exhibition, the Beijing Conference and Exhibition of Instrumental Analysis (BCEIA), which is held every other year opposite analytica China. The objective of the cooperation agreement is to give the analysis and laboratory-technology sector an annual exhibition platform for the Chinese and Asian market.

Besides the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS), partner to the analytica Conference, analytica China is supported by a host of other strong partners. Both the China Association for Instrumental Analysis and the China National Scientific Instruments & Materials Import-Export Corporation (CSIMC) are official cooperation partners of analytica China. The technical advisory board of analytica China consists of prominent Chinese representatives of the scientific and industrial sectors.

The industry's global trade show
analytica China is the exhibition in China that covers the attractive and rapidly growing market for analysis, biotechnology, laboratory technology and services. As a spin-off of the leading international trade fair analytica in Munich, it gives international suppliers a platform for contacting decision-makers and users in industrial and scientific laboratories and for tapping this important sales market.

After a successful premiere in Shanghai in 2002, the Munich Trade Fairs International Group has reported continued growth each time the fair has been held. At analytica China 2006, the amount of exhibition space occupied at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) was 64 percent higher than at the 2004 exhibition, increasing to 11,500 square meters. The number of exhibitors increased by 32 percent to 270 companies. 8,557 visitors attended the three-day exhibition in 2006, a 30-percent increase over analytica China 2004. One the one hand, these positive results reflect growing interest among companies in the Chinese market and underscore the ever-increasing significance of trade shows as business and networking platforms. On the other, they document the rapidly growing demand that the Chinese market has for the products and solutions on exhibit at analytica China.

Analysis market in China is booming
Demand for high-tech analysis equipment and laboratory technology in China is very high. Total market volume in this sector is 20.9 billion US dollars ; the Chinese market for laboratory technology was worth 1.7 billion US dollars in 2005 . The import rate for analysis instruments has been estimated at between 70 and 90 percent.

The development of Sino-German trade relations reflects the growing importance of the Chinese market: In 2006, exports from Germany to China increased by 16.24 percent to 337.6 million euros. German imports of goods from China saw an enormous increase of 68.6 percent to 127.3 million euros. In an international comparison, China is now ranked in fifth place in the case of both imports and exports.
